Art & Festivals in Laguna Beach

There are a number of Laguna Beach art festivals that can be enjoyed near our hotel. In fact, these fabulous art festivals are one of the main reasons so many art loves flock to Laguna Beach!

This thriving scene is in high gear all year long. Whether you prefer traditional oil paintings, experimental abstracts, portrait photography, mixed media pieces, artisan crafts, music or theatre—you're sure to have every aspect of your creative imagination sparked with inspiration when you attend any of our numerous festivals, gallery shows and art walks.

Laguna Beach Music Festivals
Laguna Beach Music Festival brings music up close and personal to the seaside community of Laguna Beach. Each Festival stars internationally acclaimed musicians working in concert with rising young talent in a week-long blend of energizing performances as well as offering educational experiences.

Sawdust Art Festival

Visitors amble along a sawdust path while watching about 200 artisans who make arts and crafts on-site in their own booths. Many of these handicrafts are also available for purchase. Theme gardens with exotic plants, musicians, and street performers add to the eclectic mix. The Sawdust Festival takes place from the beginning of July through August. Admission is $4 for adults, $3 for seniors, and kids under 12 are free.

Art-A-Fair

Long revered as "Southern California's Premier Summer Art Festival Destination," this festival features internationally acclaimed juried artists and master crafts people, many of whom reside in the local area. At this unique festival, guests get to witness art in all its forms, including oil painting, sculpture, mixed media, digital art, ceramics, glass, jewelry, photography and wood. In addition to purchasing pieces for collections, attendees are privy to first-hand painting and other visual art lessons. Held in conjunction with the Sawdust Festival and the Festival of Arts, this festival also includes a charity art auction to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

CaDance—the Laguna Dance Festival
While schedules for the upcoming season are not yet published on this renowned dance company's Web site, you can be sure—based on 2009's knockout performances featuring a wide variety of classic ballet, experimental, hip-hop and modern dance—that this year's season will be no exception.

Community Art Project (CAP)
This nonprofit organization dedicates itself to finding temporary and permanent works of public art in Laguna Beach, primarily displaying these works on private property that can easily be viewed by the public. Check out the site to find out where you can see some of these constantly rotating works designed to bring beauty to the public at large.

Festival of Arts

Held July 6th through August 30th, this internationally known festival celebrates all things art. One of the highlights of the Festival of Arts is the Pageant of the Masters. Hours are 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and admission is $12 to $38.

First Thursdays Art Walk
Every first Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m., the streets of Laguna Beach come alive with art patrons strolling from gallery to outdoor market to live musical performances and back again. Shuttles allow you to hop from the North Coast Highway area to Central Downtown and the South Coast Highway…so you don't miss a thing.

Gallimaufry Performing Arts
This dynamic organization is dedicated to supplying the local community with the educational and transformative experience of all performing arts—including dance, theatre, music and other various arts project. The name itself, "gallimaufry," is defined in Webster's dictionary with words such as, "hash, hodgepodge, jumble, medley and assemblage." Gallimaufry is the perfect word for the fine and prolific productions offered by the dynamic team that keeps the well-loved organization always on the cutting edge.

Laguna Art Museum

Laguna Beach Chorale

Run by music director Daniel Reisch, Laguna Beach Chorale has been bringing classical pieces of music to life for Laguna Beach residents since 1991, and has even performed twice at New York City's Carnegie Hall. Laguna Beach Craft Guild
Founded in 1978, the Laguna Beach Craft Guild produces the weekly Arts & Crafts exhibit held every Sunday on the cobblestone of Main Beach in downtown Laguna Beach. Enjoy delicious food from local vendors while perusing the wares of local artists, including potters, glassblowers, textile artists, jewelers and more.

Laguna Beach Live!
Cool out to the Jazz Wednesdays outdoor summer series at the Hotel Laguna. Enlighten yourself at free classical chamber music concerts held at the Laguna College of Art & Design every Sunday during the months of May through October. Expand your musical horizons at the January weeklong music festival that features modern classical music and new composers. Plan ahead for special concerts held all year long at varying locations throughout Laguna Beach. Thank Laguna Beach Live! for making it all possible.

Laguna College of Art & Design
Founded in 1961, this renowned art school has been training aspiring artists into successful professionals for almost 50 years. Programs of study include fine arts, graphic design, illustration, game art, animation, liberal arts, MFA tracks and post-baccalaureate courses. The school also hosts and sponsors numerous art events year-round, including graduation and student shows as well as faculty exhibitions.

Laguna Playhouse

Since 1920, the Laguna Playhouse has been entertaining Laguna Beach with whimsical music revues, thought-provoking dramas, children's theater performances and rollicking comedies. Nothing compares to the electrical experience of live theater, and Laguna Playhouse has something for everyone's particular theatrical preferences.

No Square Theatre
Laguna Beach's very own community theatre invites professionals and amateurs of all ages to participate in the thrill of live theatre. With classes for kids and adults as well as regular performances at various venues throughout the city, No Square Theatre is dedicated to bringing the joy of theater to the community at large—whether you're performing onstage or watching delightedly from your safe place in the audience.
